El Rey Comics announce Joseph Schmalke cover variant of WE LIVE AGE OF PALLADIONS

Towards the end of 2020 Aftershock Comics released the first issue of WE LIVE from brothers Inaki and Roy Miranda. The first issue of the hit series as of now is up to its fourth print, and coming this March is the first issue of the follow-up series WE LIVE AGE OF PALLADIONS.

The series will have multiple covers, of which two will be connecting ones. San Diego’s own El Rey Comics will have a black cover version with cover art (pic below on the right) from Joseph Schmalke (Toss Comics will have a white version variant, below on left). This is not just a variant cover with the same content inside though, as the content will be slightly different in the versions as the synopsis for each on Diamond Comics’ Previews World indicates. (White version synopsis, Black version synopsis)

El Rey is offering their cover version as either a trade dress ($19.99), a virgin/trade dress cover edition as a set for $49.99, and a metal virgin version for $99.99. They will also be offering CGC signed (as well as remarked) versions of the store exclusive cover. The price for a CGC signed/graded trade version with Joseph Schmalke’s signature is $89.99. There will also be a triple signed CGC graded version w/ signatures of Schmalke and both Miranda brothers for $129.00, and a triple signed and remarked version for $199.99. All versions are now available for purchase at the individual links above.

Official synopsis below courtesy of Diamond Comics/Aftershock Comics:

White cover version:

We are back into the hopeful, apocalyptic world of Tala and Hototo.
Year 2090. Six years have passed since Salvation Day, when Palladions, with their majestic powers, emerged as the protectors of humanity, saving the five remaining Megalopolis and securing the future of the human species.
But nothing stays and the horizon always brings a new storm.
These are dark times. Death, famine and desperation lurk around the streets of Megalopolis 9. The shield has lost thirty percent of its reach. The New Nature has learnt to create cuts in the energy channels that power the Beacon and the Palladions. A neverending horde of beasts siege the remains of the city, increasing the desperation among the population.
The responsibility of keeping the city afloat lies on the shoulders of Generals Nesbo and Terrassa, who have to resort to risky survival measures. Journeying outside of the city in search of food is the only thing that is keeping the population alive, but nothing seems enough.
Fear opens its way through Megalopolis 9 like a great crack of faith that separate more and more the population from the Palladions.
Snow covers the city with a heavy white mantle, invoking oblivion and nothingness.

Black cover version:

Powerlessness corners the Palladions, who fear not being able to protect the city.
Everything is black, except for the white snow that covers with silence the dying, black present.
