I did not think they would be able to wrap every loose end they unraveled in the start of Hawkeye, but they somehow did it. Barely.
With this finale episode of Hawkeye, with no comment about any more seasons or movies coming up in the future, the series is able to end on an alright note. Only leaving a few things unsaid, such as what the future will hold for Kate and Clint and the fun fact that Clint’s wife was once an agent. The finale episode focuses mainly on finishing all fights started at the beginning of the series and coming to terms of a partnership between Kate and Clint.
I do have to say that Kate Bishop has come a long way in these six episodes, Hailee Steinfeld was able to pull through for us fans and grow her character into what we know she could be. She finally acts her age and understands not everything can go the way you think or plan, stuff will always go sideways and doing what’s right isn’t something that will bring you happiness.
Along with bringing in Yelena Belova, Nat’s sister into the show, we were also able to see the great return of a fan favorite villain from the beloved comics (he makes multiple appearances in so many). A villain we have not seen in some years, since the TV show Daredevil on Netflix. Leading us to believe that we will finally be seeing other beloved actors and their characters from the five shows we got to get to know them on from the other streaming platform. It was great to see the same actor play his villain counterpart, though it seems that he has fallen quite a bit from his high society days.
Finally the part I have been most excited for, the Clint and Yelena fight and heart to heart! Yes we all love Yelena, even while fighting Kate. Kate couldn’t help herself from stating the obvious for us all, “Stop making me like you”. Which we have all felt for this character, but we are loving her every time she appears on the screen. The fight itself between these two was a fun and interesting one to watch, reminding me of the first fight between Nat and Clint that we got to see in The Avengers when Clint was brainwashed. It was almost like I could see Nat in a way again, and with this fight came the accusations of Clint killing Nat. He does surprise Yelena with some of the things he says, which are almost exactly the same as how Yelena feels about her sister too. I do how we will get to see more interaction between these two in the future, sharing memories and a friendship built on mutual loss.
The biggest thing I could have done without was the post credit scene, yes there is one but just no. I did not need to see that and I hated every moment of it because so much of it was wrong and the heroes it’s based on would also have hated it too.
Hawkeye is now complete with it’s six episodes now streaming on Disney+, you too can binge watch the newest Marvel show to catch up with favorite characters and find a few new ones too!
