MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB movie review – Different, fun, and original

Director: Jason Arber
Starring: May Kelly, Danielle Scott, and Christine Ann Nyland
Runtime: 1 hour 30 minutes

What’s it about: A reimagining of the classic children’s nursery rhyme. Mary has a little secret she’s kept hidden from the world. Mostly. When a radio host and her crew set out to investigate a bunch of missing person cases they discover something far beyond their imagination lurking in the woods.

What did Corey think: This movie is a little bit deeper than the title might imply. Sure the blood and gore is there but at its heart this is a movie about motherhood and mental illness. The plot works in a way that brings a sense of realism to an otherwise seemingly outlandish premise. The practical effects are solid and there are definitely a few scares to be had. I thought the acting was pretty good too! They did a great job of selling the horror and fear on screen which also helped the movie feel more real. Oh, and Mary??!! Wowza! She was amazing! Talk about mental illness? She played the role of a lost, worn, and potentially bi-polar mother perfectly!

If you are looking for something a little different, fun, and original based on something from your childhood you should definitely add this movie to your list. Turn out the lights, grab some popcorn, and just make sure you watch your baa baa back!

My rating –  7/10 Good!
