MINOR THREATS VOLUME 1 review – Heart-felt, emotional, witty, original, action packed, and funny (Oswalt, Blum, Herring, Piekos/Blambot) Dark Horse Comics

Writers: Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum
Artist: Scott Hepburn
Colorist: Ian Herring
Letterer: Nate Piekos of Blambot

Thanks to Dark Horse for the review copy!

A new superhero action caper from the minds of Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum who brought the acclaimed M.O.D.O.K. to the screen on Hulu. What happens when a fellow super-villain goes too far and you actually have to become the good guy to redeem yourself? A super-villain team up of course! But it doesn’t end there!

I was a huge fan of M.O.D.O.K when it landed on Hulu and I was sad to hear it wasn’t returning so this was a nice surprise. It has all the elements you would expect from a great superhero story but with the twist that it’s told from the side of the villains. Oswalt and Blum pick-up right where they left off with this new title. It’s heart-felt, emotional, witty, original, action packed and of course funny! The writing and story is easy to digest and it makes great use of all the characters. It’s honestly another series I could easily see come to tv and there is a lot of world that could be built here. The end of the book more or less wraps up the story but it still leaves the door open for further exploration down the road. The art and colors are awesome as well. Sharp, bright and colorful panels that keep you locked in for the ride. I love the old-school style shading and palette. It’s really a complete package and I wasn’t able to put this book down until I finished it. In fact, I was sad to see it end. Here’s to hoping we get more from this team in the future. In the meantime, you should definitely add this zany caper to your reading pile!

My rating – 9/10 Great!
