My love for ONE PIECE now extends to the new card game

Once again I will be talking to you all about our lord and savior, One Piece. In all honesty, I don’t mean to always be talking about it and I feel like I haven’t been in a while…but, I’ve been dying to share a new love for the series I’ve had recently (nothing new in what I love about it, but still).

You all might have seen or heard about a new game for One Piece, and no it’s not the video game. One Piece came out with a card game this year (please don’t quote me on that exact date), and I have been buying it whenever I could get my hands on it. I bought some at San Diego Comic-Con in July (I barely remember that trip, but I do have videos of finding it there. Now it’s just in my house, so I must have bought it). Anyway, it’s been many months since it’s been out and I have my own card shop at this point.

Funny thing is, I don’t know how to play… Well, I do now. As of the beginning of October I learned and have only gotten to play one game so far. There are not many places close to where I live to play, there is a bigger place with twice a week tournaments but it’s over an hour to get there. The other place is closer by, but it’s too scary for me to go on my own. So, I’m in some desperate need for more card shops to get with it and hold more tournaments for One Piece (I mean all the local card shops by me sell out of everything for the game right away. So why not host the tournaments?).

Anyway, the game is a bit complicated and was hard to try and learn on my own. I recommend watching people play and learn as you play too (there’s also an app to learn how to play too). It worked out with the person who taught me how to play, because they were a really great teacher (because I learn by seeing and doing). I really want to play more, and I feel like I’ll become a bit more aggressive as I go on (as I am with Magic the Gathering). But, I already have so much fun talking about the game with other lovers of the game too. I just really want to play more with others and see the different decks people build.

When I was at Rose City Comic Con in September, I had alluded to something I had bought for myself that was a birthday gift for myself…well that was this amazing One Piece deck box, and it also happens to be the only one in current existence. That’s right, I was somehow able to say the right thing (no clue what) and was allowed to buy the prototype box before the launch. When I say this box is beautiful, that is an understatement. It’s a wooden box, laser cut, and has magnets on the side to close the box (as shown in photos below). I slept with this box for a week before I would let it out of my sight (to sit on my shelf after by my bed). I still marvel at how cool it is and can’t wait to grab more of them when they finally release. Don’t worry guys, I got you (wink). I’m going to put the Kickstarter link below, as well as the store’s Etsy link so you can see their very cool deck boxes for Magic the Gathering and so on (I bought one of those too).

In the end, I feel like this is a fun new card game for lovers of One Piece to enjoy and it’s got some great card art as well that could bring in more people to enjoy the game.
