Our friends at Clan McDonald Comics (the LCS of choice for our editor Dan Berry) have recently created a publishing division (Tartan Publishing), and to kick it off launched a Kickstarter for it! The first issue of Cos & Effect from writer Marat Mychaels, interior artist Sajad Shah, colorist Sean Forney, letterer Zen, and editor Russ Casseday is about “a young cosplayer named Ashley acquires a magic amulet that can bend reality her life is forever changed. Now she must learn how to deal with her new found power and the bizarre situations she finds herself in as well as the mysterious Eziquel Fekt who claims to own the necklace.”
The synopsis sounds interesting…after all we here at The Convention Collective report on a lot of different cons all over the US and the UK, and cosplayers are a HUGE part of most cons! As of right now the Kickstarter is fully funded and the issue is already done and will be shipped out once the campaign is over. The issue is 19 pages and there are 7 different covers available that backers can choose from (or get one of the package deals for all of them). Layne, Marat Mychaels, Ryan Kincaid, Elias Chatzoudis, Tristarr, Shikarii, and Ebas all contributed cover art for the issue which you can see below. For those that are so inclined, there are both nice and NSFW covers available. In addition the campaign also has other premium items available including metal trading cards, prints, and more!
Since the campaign is already fully funded, a lot of stretch goals have been unlocked for all backers. Some of the extras include stickers, post cards, coasters, and more!
The campaign is set to end on March 3rd, so get your pledges in and help support Clan McDonalds Comics and Tartan Publishing in their debut release…while there can only be one, hopefully this Kickstarter isn’t the only release from them!
