RAT QUEENS #20 review (Ferrier, Petraites, Lesko) Image Comics – Evil Hannah is so much WORSE

Writer and Letterer: Ryan Ferrier Artist: Priscilla Petraites Colorist: Marco Lesko

Thanks to Image Comics for providing a copy for review!

Alright folks, just as a quick update to where we left off last time in RAT QUEENS #19- all of the girls, except Maddie were hella dead. Pretty much acid soup. But, onto this issue- Maddie is our last girl left standing and being shocked to death by the #1 idiot’s lightning fingers (really, who could have called this shocker?).

It also seems that Dee’s not as much soup as we thought, her spirit is still alive because she’s a God (if you somehow forgot this little fact). Instead of going with the flow of the natural order of things, she brings back herself and the girls- because she chooses them. So, first things first- Gary needs his ass kicked. The not dead girls head out to help Maddie, and they make their entrance shouting “No naps for the wicked”. From here on out there is blood and guts everywhere, and Betts is back to her slaughtering self. I do have to say that Maddie is doing a great job of killing, and is keeping up with the rest of the Rat Queens.

Wow, Gary just plain sucks and it seems that there was someone else inside of Gary this whole time. But, don’t let that take away from him sucking all on his own. Gary barfs up some purple slime and it grows bigger. The barf slime then starts talking, saying how it loves to watch the chaos and fuck-ups the girls are able to pull off. The purple slimy barf then finally morphs into its true self, which is a dark elf- it’s Evil Hannah. I’m just going to say it, calling this dark elf Evil Hannah is hilarious because you really don’t see our current Hannah as the “good” Hannah. So calling this one Evil Hannah is very much saying something big. And in true Hannah form, she says how busy she has been but nothing has felt as good as their tears. Dang.

As our Rat Queens leap to attack her, she heads out through a portal to have some more fun. But, not without first saying she will be seeing them again soon. After all of this, it takes about five days for everything to go back to normal in the town. Gary and his fuck-up lackeys get the hell out of there, still upset over everything that’s happened (true losers in the face of victory of the Rat Queens). Although all is good in Palisade now, the girls can’t shake the feeling of doom coming as Evil Hannah said the end times were coming in response to Dee’s choice to bring them back. But, to Dee, who is the only living God, this is nothing new to her. Is it terrible that I just noticed that Hannah, our Hannah has a prosthetic arm? Because when did that happen? Anyway, I can’t wait to see what Evil Hannah gets up to and what doom is coming for the girls.

RAT QUEENS #20 is now available in your local comic book stores.
