Continuing the posting of our coverage of this years San Diego Comic-Con, there were so many sights and sounds available to sink in, with our ‘boots on the ground’ checking out as much as they possibly could, as well as interviewing some really cool and interesting creatives, dotted around the show.
Our Sandbox Comics/Literary Reviewer Samantha Maybe took a different approach to not only her con but also the kinds of people that she spoke to, representing The Convention Collective – for 2019, she indulged her passion for books and writers, talking to established talents about the creative process as well as new artists just starting to make their impressions.
Lev Grossman is already an established writer with success after success under his belt – from noted work for publications such The New York Times, Wired, Salon.com, Entertainment Weekly, Time Out New York, The Wall Street Journal and Time Magazine to novels such as WARP, CODEX and the hugely successful MAGICIANS trilogy – but even he feels ‘imposter syndrome’ from time to time, especially when faced with pitching new projects to the likes of the Russo Brothers and Amazon Prime Video.

In this chat with Sam, Lev talks about the reception of THE MAGICIANS by fans, how he interacts with them at events like San Diego Comic-Con – especially in the wake of the phenomenal success of the television adaptation – and teases his upcoming collaboration with the CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR/AVENGERS: ENDGAME directors on his long-gestating ‘space opera’ series that is in active development.
Thanks to Lev taking the time to do the interview, and to Sam for helping setting it up. Enjoy!!
