VENOM: THE LAST DANCE review – good end to the trilogy

Director: Kelly Marcel
Starring
: Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu, Clark Backo, Alanna Ubach, and Andy Serkis
Movie Length: 1 hour 49 minutes

What it’s about: The end of the Tom Hardy Venom trilogy with Sony sees our title character being chased by creatures after the codex so they can free their leader, Knull.

What Dan thought: The banter between Eddie and Venom is always a highlight of these movies, and this chapter in the trilogy is no different. The movie has some great action/fight scenes, and a good choice of music to go along with some of the scenes. All that being said, I was hoping we’d see more of Andy Serkis’ Knull being that he’s such a big character in the Marvel Comics (maybe he’ll move over to the MCU?)

Expanding a bit on what I enjoyed, the soundtrack included songs from Queen (Don’t Stop Me Now), David Bowie (Space Oddity), Cat Stevens (Wild World), and more. All the songs fit perfectly with the scenes they were featured in and made the use of them more enjoyable.

The fight scenes between Knull’s minions and the various symbiotes were terrific, thanks to a huge VFX team(s).

Overall the movie moved at a good pace, but some scenes didn’t seem to serve any purpose in the story aside from making the movie a bit longer.

Dan’s rating: 7/10, enjoyable at times, slow at others.

Venom: The Last Dance is now in theaters.
