The ramp-up to the massive celebration of everything Disney – D23 EXPO, held in the Anaheim Convention Center (Friday 23rd-Sunday 25th August 2019) – has begun in earnest, with the House Of Mouse unveiling some of the highlights that attendees will get to experience in the headlining stage, the truly colossal Hall D23 that takes over the entire of Hall D of the Convention Centre.
This 6,800-seater space will be where fans will see the first glimpses of what the company has in store for its highly anticipated Disney+ streaming service, including the original programming currently being cooked up for it. Film fans will see what Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Studios, Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios will be bringing to screens worldwide in the coming years.
Now, you may think that the latter would be the big draws to the show but you’d actually be wrong: from personal experience, Disney fans, in the main, see the company off-shoots as the ‘interlopers’, the mouse ears are on for a reason and the screams and cheers are mostly reserved for the ‘home team’ product. This is a crowd that knows EVERY word to the Disney songs, played over the PA before the curtains rise!
Still, that’s not going to stop there being a lot of hollerin’ and stompin’ for this incredible selection of presentations, kicking off with the induction of a truly stellar roster of special guests to the status of Disney Legends… And that’s how the friggin’ weekend starts for heaven’s sake!
