It’s time for another convention! This time it is the biggest Anime Convention in Washington State, Sakura-Con. With the way people are con crunching for this one, it’s feeling like the main events are starting to heat up big time. I, myself, am guilty of this. I always try to do three brand new cosplays for Sakura-Con with barely giving myself any time to actually do them.
This is also the first time at Sakura-Con I will be hosting not one but two panels, both are my first panels at Sakura-Con (and I’m doing one solo). I’m so excited and nervous, but mostly I know no one will show up (haha). But, it’s a great way to get my experience up for doing more panels in the future, and talking about topics I love sharing with others.
The weather also looks like it is going to be nice, and I really want to do so many group and single cosplay photos/videos outside the old convention building. It’s like a maze and has some great places for photos, and I just know that my group will be pulling gags all weekend. I’m also doing a group cosplay every day, and am excited to see how it all turns out!
The programming at con and outside of con look pretty great too. I have my eyes on quite a few other panels to support friends and check out some cool stuff. The ones I am planning on making it to (I swear I will do everything in my power to go) are Survive Said the Prophet Concert, TRIGGER Live Drawing and Q&A, h.NAOTO Fashion Show, SPYAIR Concert, and Into cosplay photography.
I will also be at two panels for sure, cause I will be on them, You love to hate them, you hate to love them: That’s right. Let’s talk Villains! It’s on Friday at 1:45pm, my second panel will be on Saturday at 3pm on Creating a Fandom Podcast!
There are also lots of outside events happening for con-goers, such as four different raves in the area. I know for sure I’ll be at the Senpai Squad rave on Friday, I have heard they are a blast to go to and actually play anime music at the anime rave (trust me, it’s not always a given). There are a few others that look good too, I just recommend everyone use the buddy system and be safe on being aware of surroundings (keep your eyes on your opened drink anywhere you go, no matter where you go or what you drink).
I cannot tell you all how excited I am to be seeing friends and getting up to more silliness with everyone, and just surrounded by all the anime nerdiness (my favorite). Right before con is always stressful, and that’s no joke for Sakura-Con at all. The payoff is going to be so good and so worth it, because Sakura-Con is always some of the best fun you can have at a convention! So, if you’re in the area this weekend in Seattle. Grab a weekend pass and stop in to see where all the fun is!
