What is it about: A neighborhood gets transported back to the time of dinosaurs as a result of a solar flare, and a family must survive while figuring out how to get back to their time.
What Dan thought: What happens when a neighborhood (the Oak Street from the title) gets transported back to the time of dinosaurs? That’s the question writer/director David Robert Mitchell is answering in THE END OF OAK STREET that is out now in theaters. The movie starts off slow to help the character development and introduce some of the neighborhood residents, but once the action starts it never lets up.
The dinosaurs were great, not sure if they were props/puppets or CGI, but either way the way they moved and acted was great. The main cast (Anne, Ewan, Maisy, and Christian) were all terrific, and genuinely felt like a family. The movie does have a few jump scares, and a minor bit of blood/gore but nothing too horrible.
I did enjoy the soundtrack, the movie is set in the early 80s and the songs they played were from that era, and fit in perfectly. The score was composed perfectly by Michael Giacchino.
Dan’s grade: 8/10. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, so if you’re looking for a movie with a bit of gore with the dinosaur kills, and the perfect use of the 1 f-bomb a PG-13 movie is allowed, go see this movie.
The End of Oak Street is now in theaters.
