What it’s about: A top secret super soldier program spins out of control when the latest version gains consciousness and sets out to destroy the very program that created him.
What Corey thought: I quite enjoyed this film. It was action packed from start to finish. The plot was solid and the film just worked. The fight choreography especially was on point. The main character played by Byron Mann was charismatic and witty and he seemed to fit his character really well. Robert Patrick and Helena Mattsson were also good in their roles. I was actually surprised how charismatic both Mann and Mattsson were. The on-screen back and forth between them kept my interest and played out much like a cat and mouse game even though we didn’t realize what the twist would be initially. They had excellent chemistry together!
The movie had several excellent fight scenes and reminded me a bit of Universal Soldier and The Raid in some ways which I also immensely enjoyed. The film was very well executed. I’d be curious to what this movie would look like with an even bigger budget. I think Winnick would definitely make the most of it! If you like action movies with a bit of a futuristic or sci-fi feel you’d be hard pressed to find another indie movie that was this much fun.
My rating 8/10 – Great!!
