Now we all know the Marvel movies have taken a turn for the worse lately. Although, the one superhero or anti-hero that everyone loves and will always show up for is Deadpool. We have been waiting for the third Deadpool for years, and now that Disney bought Fox…we finally got what we have all been desperately waiting for… Hugh Jackman!

I always knew that we hadn’t seen the last of Jackman as Wolverine, the awfulness that was the movie, Logan, couldn’t hold him or the character back. Now, we finally have the team up that we have only gotten to see in the comics here and there, and with Reynolds and Jackman in real life (always poking fun at each other and Deadpool bringing him up as much as he can in the movies).

I can’t begin to tell you all how worried I’ve been about this movie, I put it completely out my mind and didn’t even watch a single trailer. My friend even bought the tickets and told me where to be and when and how I needed to cosplay as Logan, since she was coming as Wade. I just didn’t want to be spoiled or see any trailers and be let down if they didn’t look great. Wolverine was the first superhero that I ever saw, I fell hard for his character backstory and development. He has always been my favorite and he has been done so dirty in the movies (except the first X-Men movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: First Class. Yes he only had a cameo in the last one, but it was very him).

As soon as I sat down to watch Deadpool and Wolverine,  my worries were completely gone. Laughing my ass off at the start of the movie (which is the best music to start off with), had me eagerly anticipating when Wolverine would show up and how. And oh boy, my heart was bursting out of my chest when I saw all the different Wolverines in the multiverse (so many comic references!) and especially the quietly rumored Wolverine (which after seeing it on screen, I might be okay with it but am still on the fence about the accent). But I have never been so happy to see my hero on screen, because they just killed it with his look (the yellow X-Men suit looked better than I thought).

I’d say the plot of DP3 was just okay, the banter between Wolverine and Deadpool and the endless cameos made the movie the best thing I’ve ever seen in a long time. With how entertaining Jackman and Reynolds were and some of the best fights (the van scene was by far my favorite all time fight and had me in hysterical tears), I wasn’t all that concerned with the actual main plotline (it did feel a little like a side plot, just because Deadpool and Wolverine were overshadowing it with their relationship). The story was still good and still felt like a very new age MCU with all the multiverse stuff, while also keeping what we love of the classic Deadpool movies.

To be honest with you all, I did see this movie on a Saturday morning and then again with another group of friends that night. I have never once seen the same movie twice in a day, let alone one in theaters. If that says anything, the movie was that fun and the bits were just as funny if not more so the second go around. After the first time seeing it that day, on my way home while quickly booking the evening showing with friends, I stopped at a bigger independent theater to see if they had any of the merch for the movie (the one I was at never had any to begin with, and it was so disappointing!). I was lucky and snagged the best friends keychains for my friends that night ( I obviously have the Wolverine half of the heart). Lastly, I feel like it is very important and necessary to thank the writers for the blessing they have bestowed on us viewers, with those two amazing scenes with Wolverine toward the end of the movie. Anyone who has seen the movie knows what they did, and my goodness did they do it well. We should also thank Hugh Jackman for keeping it tight and for what seems like endless amounts of team ups he’ll be in with Reynolds.

If you haven’t seen Deadpool and Wolverine yet, well I’m so sorry. You must be so sad right now, you should probably go buy a ticket and surf eBay to try and get one of the super cool popcorn buckets that are now $200 bucks (and were only around $35 to start off with). But treat yourself to a hell of a time and go see what I feel is the movie of the year.
