FAILURE! movie review – Definitely not a failure of a movie!

Directors: Alex Kahuam
Starring: Ted Raimi, Merrick McCartha, Noel Douglas Orput, Melissa Diaz, Christin Muuli, Daniel Kuhlman, LeVar Michael, Spencer Langston, John Paul Medrano, Ernest Cavazos, Joe Barra, Chris Paul Morales, Alex Sands, and Hyeong Choi
Movie Length: 1 hour 27 minutes

What it’s about: A business owner struggling with a huge debt must decide how far he’s willing to go to secure his family’s legacy and provide for his children. When desperation rears its ugly head nothing is off the table. Not even murder!

What Corey thought: This was a pretty good flick. First of all, I enjoyed the way it was shot. Shooting in one take increases the tension and anxiety of the whole situation and its importance. It allows us as viewers to feel what the character is feeling and puts us right in the middle of the action or drama. Raimi, as the main character James, also does a good job of building that palpable tension. As the movie moves towards its conclusion James decisions become more unhinged and it’s clear the stress of this whole situation has him in a near mental break. It is will though that ensures he will see this endeavor through no matter what for the sake of his children. He cannot and will not lose.

You’re left sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next. Even as the movie ends and James has completed the sale of his business and set out to do what he intended, he’s still ready to kill if needed after the paperwork has been signed. The movie is truly about the human condition and what one might be driven to do to protect their family. It’s emotions like stress, love and/or being up against a wall that force us out of our comfort zone and cause us to do things out of our character. That is the heart and soul of this movie and it works well! If you feel like you need a drink or need to smoke a cigarette when this movie ends it has achieved its purpose. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Definitely not one to miss around the circuit this fall!
