Image Comics – NEWS WEEK (January 14th, 2019)

In our latest recap of the week that was from Image Comics, comes news of the return of Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett’s SECTION ZERO, the next volume of Joe Casey and Piotr Kowalski superhero series SEX, Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’ CRIMINAL #1 getting a 2nd print, and more.

Writer/inker Karl Kesel and artist Tom Grummett are teaming up again for a new series of their creator owned title Section Zero.

Look for the first issue this April when it hits comic book shops with three different covers, one from Kesel & Grummett, one from Walter Simonsonand a third from by Jerry Ordway.

Also this week came the announcement of Joe Casey and Piotr Kowalski superhero series SEX will return with a new trade paperback in April.

SEX, VOL. 6: WORLD HUNGER continues the story of Simon Cooke, a retired superhero, as he tries to discover secrets of the Illuminati.

It will be released on April 24 at comic book shops with book stores getting it on April 30th.

As the week came to end, Image announced that due to overwhelming sales CRIMINAL #1 from the team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, and Kieron Gillen and Stephanie HansDIE #2 will both get 2nd printings.

Look for Criminal #1, 2nd printing alongside Criminal #2 on Wednesday, Feb 13, and Die #2, 2nd printing as well as Die #3 on Wednesday, Feb 6.

Lastly in the weekly news recap was the announcement that Skottie Young and Jorge Corona’s MIDDLEWEST #2 will get a 2nd print.

The new print will feature a new cover from Young, and is set for release on February 13th.

LEGENDARY CREATORS KARL KESEL AND TOM GRUMMETT RETURN THIS APRIL TO THEIR CREATOR-OWNED ADVENTURE SERIES SECTION ZERO

PORTLAND, OR 01/14/2019 — The award winning team of writer Karl Kesel (Superboy, Harley Quinn) and artist Tom Grummett (X-Men Forever, The Death of Superman, Superboy) return to their fan-favorite, critically acclaimed series, Section Zero. The science-fiction adventure is set to launch from Image/Shadowline Comics this April. 

Section Zero kicks off with Part One: “Ground Zero,” where readers meet a team of fearless adventurers. Together the crew uncovers the secrets behind UFOs, monsters, and lost civilizations in a story that can best be described as, “Jack Kirby does The X-Files.” 

Section Zero will feature alternate covers by super-star artists including Walter Simonson, George Perez, Adam Hughes, Dave Gibbons, Mike Wieringo, and many more!

MIND-BLOWING SEX RETURNS THIS APRIL—AND A GRAPHIC NOVEL TOO

PORTLAND, OR 01/16/2019 — Image Comics is pleased to announce that the popular, provocative superhero series Sex by Joe Casey (JesusfreakMCMLXXV) and Piotr Kowalski has returned as an ongoing, original graphic novel series with Sex, Vol. 6: World Hunger hitting stores in trade paperback this April. 

“It’s been a long time coming, but Kowalski and I are primed and pumped to return to the sordid world of Sex,” said Casey. “This volume definitely takes things to another level of salaciousness. And we’re just getting started taking this new format out for a spin.”

In this all-new Sex experience, readers will return to Saturn City and the continuing exploits of retired superhero and awkward civilian, Simon Cooke, as he attempts to uncover the illicit secrets of the so-called Illuminati that desperately wants to recruit him. Typically, this leaves his beloved city vulnerable to all manner of desperate depravity. Fans won’t realize how much they’ve missed Sex until they indulge in this latest adventure.
