Director: Sean Durkin
Starring: Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney, Holt McCallany, and Lily James
Movie Length: 1 hour 32 minutes
What it’s about: A biographical movie about one of (if not the best) pro wrestling family of all time, the Von Erichs, who suffered a great deal of tragedies outside of the ring.
What Dan thought: Going into the movie I knew quite a bit about the Von Erich dynasty as I was a fan of their wrestling dynasty growing up (and would watch them on ESPN after school every day). The movie delves quite a bit into the tragedies that befell the family over the year and doesn’t pull any punches.
The cast really portrayed the real life wrestlers they were playing to the point that I knew who they were supposed to be without having to guess (some are easier then others like Ric Flair, wooooooooo).
The wrestling scenes were well done thanks to Chavo Guerrero Jr. being the coordinator for the wrestling scenes. The movie is more then a 90 minute wrestling film as a majority of the movie goes into their personal lives and makes for a compelling watch.
If you’re a fan of the Von Erich dynasty, or a fan of the main actors including Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White this movie is a must see.
Dan’s rating 9/10 – Great!!
The Iron Claw will be in theaters on December 22, 2023 in the United States, and on February 9, 2024 in the UK.
