RUMPUS ROOM #1 Review – Witty dialogue with art and colors that are a great accompaniment to the story (Russell, Rosanas, Svorcina, AndWorld Design, Harris) AWA Studios

Writer: Mark Russell
Artist: Ramon Rosanas
Colorist: Ive Svorcina
Letterer: AndWorld Design
Cover Artist: Tony Harris

Thanks to AWA Studios for the review copy!

A new dark satire from the wild mind of Mark Russell. When an eccentric tech billionaire who harvests face cream from human beings imprisons a guest who is an undercover cop, his world of secrecy, entitlement, and corruption may be on the line.

I loved this first issue! It’s funny, disturbing and a bit of a social commentary on the upper class. It reminds me a bit of American Psycho if Patrick Bateman was suddenly the CEO of Twitter. This is what I would imagine him to be like in that scenario. It’s a unique setup and Russell works his magic to set the tone of the story quickly. The dialogue is witty as expected and the main character is someone you will love to hate almost immediately. He’s been carefully written to contain all the usual stereotypes someone like this might have and it’s pretty funny. It appears though, he may have gotten careless as we’re about to learn towards the end of the issue. The art and colors are a great accompaniment to the story. It’s bright, colorful, and full of details that add an additional layer of depth to the story. The lettering also follows an easy path through each panel allowing everything to blend nicely together. It’s a nice little package and I can’t wait to see how the plot opens up in the next issue. It’s classic Russell so if you are a fan this is definitely worth checking out!

My rating: 9/10 – Great!!
