From the team who brought us the always funny and totally outrageous Despicable Deadpool comes a twisted tale about a giant horny monster with stomach issues and the city that has become its carnal playground. We’ve seen what happens when monsters attack. This is a whole different ball game. This might be the first anatomically correct Kaiju to grace the pages of a comic book. Godzilla has nothing on this guy!
Starting with the hilarious title all the way to the final page of this comic everything about it is a degen’s wet dream! Yes. That includes me! This comic is balls to the wall fun. Action, comedy, drama and some just might even call it horror. haha. I found myself chuckling throughout most of the issue. There are times when it feels like a social commentary about our current environmental climate and the often general silliness of our government but it’s very light hearted and never takes itself too seriously. Duggan and team threw out the rulebook and decided they were just going to have fun with this one and I’m glad they did. We’ve needed something light and fun like this for a while. The writing and the art are both top notch as expected and I had to go back and read it again to soak it all in. (No pun intended!) Speaking of soaked. I’m not sure there was a bodily fluid that was missed in this issue as they are used in various creative and gross ways. Each one gloriously presented in vibrant colors and gory detail. It’s just something you have to witness to appreciate and I highly recommend you do! There may not be a more fun title on the shelves right now. In a year where we were blessed with a movie called Cocaine Bear it only seems appropriate that it be followed with the rapturous roar of The Giant Kokju! I can’t wait for the next issue!
