It’s that season again, where the bright and the best in comics get showered with plenty of glittering baubles with which to prop open the window in the loo as required. And 2022 will be the fourth year of The Tripwire Awards which aims to celebrate the cream of UK and US comic talent with voting on the many categories open to you, the comic buying and comic loving unwashed.
Tripwire Magazine has, for over thirty years, championed US and UK comics first in print and, since 2015, on the web. As in previous years, their Tripwire Awards have tried to reflect the very best of this year’s comics and the talent who make them possible – the events of the last twelve months have demonstrated that comics and comic art remain incredibly important and vital to the fabric and well-being of pop culture and to culture as a whole. With these awards, they strive to showcase those that have literally saved fans this past year.
Of the Awards, Tripwire editor-in-chief Joel Meadows says, “Tripwire has been promoting comics for thirty years now and, in 2018, we felt it was time for us to launch our own awards which would take our support to another level. We feel we are building on the success of the previous three years of ceremonies, as well as reflecting the changing landscape of comics with some new exciting categories.”

Nominations for the eighteen categories have open for people to vote on from 8pm Monday 22nd August 2022 and they can do so until Midnight 26th September 2022, with the results of the awards announced at a special ceremony online later in the year (date and details to be confirmed).
