It’s Thursday folks, and on Thursdays we talk about What If…? Just having seen the newest installment of What If, has me looking up Funko Pop figures of my favorite characters from this episode alone so far.
Anyway, this episode is all about T’Challa. What if it had been him picked up by Yondu instead of Peter Quill because Yondu outsourced the mission to his underlings and they got it wrong. Let me tell you, one hell of a mistake could never have gone so right for the universe, because T’Challa is just that type of person. He saves the Marvel Universe in this episode, and brings peace to so many planets. There is also an insane amount of easter eggs and popular appearances from all of our favorite Marvel characters, and yes-even the villains. Sadly, there is a lot less dancing (and the music we are used to hearing) and Guardians of the Galaxy, but it’s all good because we’re in the good hands of T’Challa.
There are just way too many things to talk about for this episode alone, from the amazing on point animation (T’Challa’s outfit is so cool, I can already see the cosplay being made as I write this), to the music themes for characters and climatic points, and lastly to voices of our cast this episode. If you end up watching this new episode, or only watch for this single episode. You will not be disappointed to hear almost every single actor doing their own voice for their animated character, and yes I do mean Chadwick Boseman (he worked on this project before his passing). But, you will also hear the actors for Yondu, Nebula, and Thanos to just name a few.
My final thoughts on this episode are basically just me screaming at the top of my lungs how this is the best episode for a show I have ever watched. I could not look away to even write up notes of even things I wanted to talk about in this review (trust me when I say, I’m probably forgetting so much out), I was so enthralled in the story of this episode. Yes the first episode of What If…? was great, but this episode? Blows you out of the water, hands down. You’ll be laughing, awing, drooling and crying before the credits roll and by that point all you’ll want to do is watch it again. I might also add that you might want to keep watching for a bit after the credits to get a quick peek at what became of Peter Quill (sadly not voiced by Chris Pratt in this), and pray we might get some more from this parallel universe because what a cool show or movie that would be. You can watch the newest episode of What if…? Only on Disney+.
What If…? is only available on Disney+ with new episodes premiering every Wednesday!
