Hey guys! It’s our favorite day of the week, What if review day! Yay. Although, I don’t know how much you’ll be cheering by the end of this episode…
Let’s dig right into this very dark and sad episode, and let our worst fears come true. Did you ever wonder in any of the solo hero films leading up to The Avengers that we would lose our heroes? Well, this is that episode. As we all know, during the end of Iron Man 2, it overlapped with the first Thor movie (it basically leads straight to it with Agent Coulson leaving to go deal with that situation) and the last Hulk movie we ever got. Basically this episode plays out all those and how they start off but ending very very tragically. I don’t really want to go any further into details because you kind of have to watch it yourself to believe it.
I don’t think any of the episodes have ever felt as short as this one did to me, with the narration covering just a week of tragic events that lead to a world takeover. I have always felt that I wanted to know more on how these worlds play out after these alternate events that cause the universe to shift in these new and different directions. I felt it with Captain Carter, because come on! I wanted to see if we could have gotten a Winter Soldier in the form of Steve Rogers and how The Avengers would have played out with Peggy Carter. Then with the second episode there is not one person who watched it that doesn’t want to see how it will play out. Evil Peter Quill anyone? Can I have that option please? But this episode? Oh boy, I’m going to need a lot more. There are just too many loose ends and not enough closure. Even though I shouldn’t be worried because I can trust Fury in saving the world, but damn. I need to see it go down.
Although this isn’t my favorite episode of the series so far (it’s at number three at the moment), I did love the murder mystery vides and the surprise twist. But really, it is incredibly difficult to follow up on T’Challa’s episode. Lastly, we once again get to hear more of the original actors reprise their roles in this episode. Though not everyone… Black Widow, Iron Man, and Carol Danvers were not done by their actors. This is alright though, because we’re still in awe of the ones who were able to do their own voices.
What If…? is only available on Disney+ with new episodes premiering every Wednesday!
