This past Labor Day weekend myself and our TTRPG Correspondent Jeffrey Venture once again attended Dragon Con in Atlanta, and as it has been they both attended, this con is always one of my favorites.
Here’s their thoughts on this years show:
Dan Berry: Once again Dragon Con was one of my favorite shows of the year. From the cosplay, to the artist alley, to the panels and parties this con delivered on all fronts.
As one of the friends who I made at Dragon Con 2024 said “the con is what you make of it” and coming back to the con “feels like home”. I have to agree with her as once again I wandered around the con talking to people, taking photos, buying stuff in the Pop Art and Artist Alley, and interviewing some great creators (including con veterans but newbies to this event like Becky Cloonan, Cory Smith, and Zoe Thorogood, as well as Jim Zub who has been to a few Dragon Cons) when I had the chance.
This year had a couple firsts for me including attending the Bunny Hutch party on Thursday night, and making my way to the “Secret” food court. Both have been on my to-do list for Dragon Con in the past, but this year I finally did both.
All in all I had a great (and exhausting) Dragon Con, and I can’t wait for the 40th anniversary of the show next Labor Day weekend (September 3rd through the 7th in Atlanta, Georgia! Tickets are now on sale for the con, and if you have ever wanted to attend one now is the time to buy tickets and start planning!
Jeffrey Venture: Dragon Con 2025 was my best year yet, with standout moments featuring the Brobdingnagian Bards, running a game of D&D at the America’s Mart, and the unique privilege of getting to talk to some awesome people (Catie “Catieosaurus” Osborn, Samantha BĂ©art, and Omega “Critbard” Jones among others) with my press badge. As always, Dragon Con is the most warm and welcoming con I’ve ever been to, with nerds from every fandom and walk of life coming together to celebrate in such a beautiful way. Come for the cosplay parade, stay for the community – or rather, the multitudinous communities where you can always find “your people,” whoever that may be.
