Eat Your Young is a thrilling, blood-soaked feast for readers hungry for something fresh and ferocious. A high-concept, high-stakes story of family, betrayal, and immortality, this comic is a must-read for fans of dark fantasy and supernatural thrillers.

At the heart of the story is Edmund Irons, a 2,000-year-old immortal warlord who has grown weary of his eternal life. In a move that’s both shocking and ruthless, he announces his six-year-old daughter, Elsa, as the heir to his throne. This triggers “The Centurium,” a brutal game that occurs once a century where his thirty immortal children, who span history as everything from Cold War spies to serial killers, must hunt him down. Their goal: rip out his heart to claim his power, or fail and lose their immortality forever. What ensues is a free-for-all of biblical proportions where everyone is an enemy, and trust is a fatal flaw.

Writer Brian Buccellato and artist Mattia Monaco are a creative pairing firing on all cylinders. Buccellato’s script is a masterclass in controlled chaos, blending pulse-pounding action with surprisingly poignant character moments. He masterfully juggle the massive cast, giving each of the immortal offspring just enough personality and a distinct visual archetype to make their brutal backstabbing feel both epic and personal. The family dynamics are twisted, yet compelling, providing a dark emotional core to the visceral carnage.

Monaco’s artwork is the perfect complement to the script’s raw energy. Their style is dynamic and kinetic, making every punch, stab, and explosion leap off the page. The character designs are a particular highlight, capturing the essence of each immortal’s era and personality. The art is gritty and powerful, perfectly capturing the comic’s grim tone and escalating stakes.

Eat Your Young doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it takes familiar concepts from films like Highlander and twists them into something uniquely savage and unforgettable. It’s a propulsive, cinematic ride that promises high body counts and higher drama. For those who enjoy dark tales of family strife where the stakes are literally life or death, this series is a standout hit.
