ECCC 2019: Image Comics roll out Emerald City Comic Con content

Image Comics at Emerald City Comic Con, this weekend - go hard, or go home...


Image Comics always bring the big guns to Emerald City Comic Con each year and this weekend (14th-17th March 2019) at the WA State Convention Center in lovely Seattle, Washington, is proving to be no different.

The publisher have announced a whole raft of incredible variants, panels, signings and talent appearances in a release today, one which should get fans all stoked for the upcoming festivities.

IMAGE COMICS is pleased to return to Seattle this year for Emerald City Comic Con on Thursday, March 14 through Sunday, March 17 at Washington State Convention Center.

Thursday, March 14 (4:00 – 5:00 PM, Room TCC L3-R3): Image Comics Live Draw: Art Jam with Daniel Warren Johnson, Mirka Andolfo, and Caitlin Yarsky

Join us for a special live draw session, in which a trio of Image’s most imaginative trailblazers collaborate on one exquisite corpse-style illustration. Daniel Warren Johnson (Murder Falcon, Extremity), Mirka Andolfo (Unnatural), Caitlin Yarsky (Coyotes), and a very special guest will each contribute a segment to a kinetic digital canvas, while also discussing their work processes and expansive histories. A panel designed to show off the sheer skill of Image’s line-and-shape maestros, stop by for an unforgettable experience.

Friday, March 15 (4:00 – 5:00 PM, Room TCC L3-R3): Image Comics Presents: Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie Spotlight

Since 2003, Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie have joined forces to make some of the most harmonious comics—often about harmonies—that the comics medium can call its own. From the musical magic realism of Phonogram to the warring, self-destructive deities of The Wicked + The Divine, this team has repeatedly innovated to reach new audiences and defy expectations. Saturday, March 16 (4:00 – 5:00 PM, Room TCC L3-R5): Image Comics Presents From Concept to Comic: How Artists Craft Sequential Art Step By Step

Every comic descends from a team of staggeringly talented creators employing complex work flows to enchant readers on a monthly basis. This panel breaks down the timeline of comic book production, illustrated with art charting development from layout to pencils, inks, colors, and design. Join Jen Bartel and Paul Reinwand (Blackbird), Daniel Warren Johnson (Murder Falcon), and Kyle Starks and Erica Henderson (Assassin Nation) as they walk through the process of crafting paneled perfection.

Sunday, March 17 (2:45 – 3:45 PM, Room TCC L3-R4): Image Comics Presents: Breaking Boundaries with Imagination

Comics offer a limitless canvas for expression. Without the constraints of special effects budgets or runtimes, the medium stands at the crest of mind-bending, boundary-pushing storytelling, relentlessly challenging the conventions of fiction. Narrative cosmonauts Sana Takeda (Monstress), David F. Walker (Bitter Root), Mat Groom (Self/Made), Darcy Van Poelgeest (Little Bird), Tee Franklin (Bingo Love), and Sarah DeLaine and Nicholas Aflleje (Little Girls) create realities designed to enthrall. Also hear how about the vital importance of adult readership of comics as modeling tool for parents, educators, and librarians.
