MomoCon 2025: So Much to See and Play, but So Little Time

Going to MomoCon 2025 this year marks the 6th unique comic con I’ve attended (not including multiple attendances at the same con over subsequent years), so I think I can safely say I know a thing or two about what to expect when I go to a new comic con. That being said, what I didn’t expect was just how GREAT MomoCon was organized around all the things it had to offer.

MomoCon has grown to huge proportions coming into its 20th year running in 2025 and bringing together over 60,000 fans of anime, gaming, cosplay, comics, and pop culture. There was so much to do and see in between the huge arcade, seemingly endless gaming tournaments, tabletop gaming (and TTRPG) halls, expo floor, artist alley, and panels full of voice actors and passionate industry professionals.

Read on for a breakdown of my biggest highlights if you’re curious about the breadth of fun and cool stuff you could expect to do and see at MomoCon next year.

You Could Spend Your Entire MomoCon Weekend Playing Games

MomoCon is HUGE for gamers of all kinds, but let’s talk about the most approachable at the con first: the arcade games.

There had to have been more than 100 arcade machines brought into the convention center, with some really exciting rhythm games, mech fighter games, FPS games, and even what looked to be a highly sophisticated train conductor simulator. Every time I see an old Joust machine, I have to try for a high score, and while I got my name up there on Friday and got the photo…I have to admit that KAA (curse you!) stole my #1 spot when I looked again on Sunday and I was unable to reclaim it with the time I had.

I was super delighted to find a massive selection of games to play in the Tabletop Gaming hall, including a game I’ve been really wanting to try called Wyrmspan. A great way to spend some time when you’re meeting up with friends at MomoCon is to grab a board game and just spend a couple of hours playing together. Important to Note: this section was separate from the TTRPG rooms on the opposite side of the con space, and I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to sit down for a game in the TTRPG room this year. I was also half-hoping that I could volunteer to run a game or two, but I’ve learned you’ve gotta get in early with the organizers if you want to do that. Slipped my mind this time…I’ll remember next year!

There was plenty more gaming I didn’t even get a chance to explore, like the computer gaming, console gaming, and card gaming spaces. Rest assured that if you’ve got a favorite game, it’s probably represented in some form at MomoCon.

MomoCon Things to See and Buy

MomoCon is the place to go for every type of shirt, art, figure, or other merch you could want from your favorite anime, game, cartoon, or other piece of pop culture. My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and plenty of other huge animes had plenty of representation, but I was excited to see deep cuts (pun intended) like a pair of prop Scissor Blades from Kill la Kill and a Stygian Blade from the game Hades.

I am always most focused on TTRPG stuff at cons, and I gravitated towards this booth for Dungeon Crawl Classics and ended up buying this chonker of a sourcebook for just $10!

I was sold by the description of the system: “a sword and sorcery system […] to emulate things like the power and might of Conan or the ability for Zorro to put a Z in somebody’s chest and make mechanics to make that sort of thing possible.” Having read and heard a bit more about the system, I can see this is a brutal dungeon crawler with high mortality rates, perfect for a table of gamers who want to see their characters earn their levels and abilities through intense trials.

I’ve got to Wait a Whole Year for the Next One??

Goes without saying that I highly recommend MomoCon for fans of anime, gaming, and pop culture if you can make it next year (MomoCon 2026 – Thurs May 21st – Sun 24th, 2026). Register early if you can! MomoCon shows no signs of slowing down its incredible growth, and I can’t wait to see what fun and surprises they can conjure up next year.
