Tabletop Roleplaying Games, particularly Dungeons & Dragons, have experienced a massive resurgence in recent years, allowing more and more people to to take on the roles of brave adventurers and tell their stories.
The fantasy genre, however, tends to lean on a few select cultures in which to base these stories, making it critical for more voices to bring more stories from the unexplored cultures of the world. Voices like those at Unlikely Heroes Studios, with their new campaign setting book, The Sundering, The Nation Beneath Our Feet, are rising up to allow game masters tell these very stories. Their Kickstarter has more than tripled their original goal, and ends on September 8th, so you still have time to catch it.
I got a chance to sit down with Damion Poitier and Hannibal Tabu at Unlikely Heroes Studios so they could tell me about the Zwari Nation, the underground tree-dwelling race of the Zhengi, and equally strange and fun creatures like the Zyca and Combacat.
In the interview, we talk about how important it was for Damion and Hannibal to create a campaign setting in which they felt properly represented, what players can expect when dropping the Zwari Nation into their game worlds, a few new subclasses, and plenty of new monsters and magic items.
If you want to get the campaign setting book, the exclusive custom ‘Sundered’ dice set, the collector’s box, the three expansion packs that have been added to the book, your own Sundering NPC published in the book, and so much more, you can back the Kickstarter before it ends on September 8th.
