Finally! With season one coming to an end soon and only two more episodes left, we have finally gotten a happier alternate universe. We have not seen this since the first two episodes, and since then it’s been a sad time all around. Although, classic Marvel does give us a hint at what’s to come next before the finale (and maybe a factor what we will see in that episode) and it’s not looking good. But hey, to quote one of my favorite MCU lines (which can work in any context), “if we can’t protect the Earth, you can be damn well sure we’ll avenge it”.
As most of you guessed it, this episode is all about Thor, or should I say Party God Thor. Apparently, our point of change in this universe is Odin finding baby Loki and returning him to his parents instead of keeping and raising him. I’m having a hard time not being sad about these two never growing up together and giving us what was needed to bring the Avengers together (and pretty much kick starting the MCU). Though in all fairness, we do still get to see Loki, as a blue Frost Giant (who is still hella hot, so that answers many of our questions and gives us endless ideas for fanfics). Other than this little sidetrack, it’s a really fun episode to watch. It brings in everyone Thor meets in the MCU (lots of Thor:Ragnarok cast and throughout the last two Avengers movies), sadly no other avengers show up beside Captain Marvel.
I know many of you are probably thinking that this might be a skip episode because party Thor just means meathead Thor with no substance. You would be wrong, well he is still an idiot but that’s not completely new. It’s mainly how he was in the first Thor, but this time there’s an insane party everywhere on Earth and of course Thor has to beam in all his friends. We should also not forget the lovely Jane and wonderful Darcy. Still the same as always but hilarious to watch them party in Vegas for a night.
We once again get a full cast coming back to do their own voices, from Hemsworth, Portman, Hiddleston, Dennings, Waititi, Gregg, Smulders, Jackson, Grillo, Gillan, Alexander, and Goldblum. Though not everyone could make it to do their own voices like Frigga and the rest of Thor’s gang of warriors.
What If…? is only available on Disney+ with new episodes premiering every Wednesday!
