Thanks to Dark Horse for the review copy!

A new action adventure set in the backdrop of WWI and the early days of flight. When a daring hot shot stunt pilot meets a runaway bride, they set off together on the adventure of a lifetime and one that could have grave consequences. Written by superstar writer Scott Snyder with breathtaking art by the amazing Tula Lotay, it’s an old fashioned love story embroiled in action, pursuit and murder.

This was fantastic! Snyder has proven once again he is not bound to just super-hero or horror stories. He can truly pull off any genre with ease. Having Tula Lotay as your right hand doesn’t hurt either! This is a gorgeously drawn and colored book. It feels like the 1920’s through and through. The details, dialogue, setting, lettering, and colors all harken back to a bygone era. It’s stylish, slick and packed full of substance. I love the main character, Hawk E. Baron! He’s a hero without any weapons, magic or superpowers. He’s the type of guy all young boys idolized back in the day. A smooth talking, good looking, daredevil pilot. Living in the sky and welcomed by crowds of people as he flies town by town. Of course it’s not all daisies and Hawk might not be the best role model afterall. There has to be a little drama to make this story legendary! That comes in the way of a planned heist and a runaway bride! Not necessarily in that order. This first issue has it all and we’re only one issue deep! It was just an absolute joy to read! Brilliant marketing as well releasing around the 4th of July. What better time than when we are thinking about all the things that make America great. This comic book is a slice of Americana nobody knew they wanted but everyone needs! Don’t miss out on this one.

My rating – 10/10 SUPERB!
